House Hunting

Adam and I have started a search for a condo to buy. At first we thought about houses, but for what we can afford here, a condo is a better option if you don't want to live in the ghetto or live in something that is pretty run down and needs a ton of work.

We have looked at quite a few places and most of them are your standard college apartment setup (nicer though, lots have hardwood floor, nice appliances, nice cabinets, etc), which we would be totally fine in. We have looked at a few though that I love that are more like a townhouse. They are still small, but somehow when they are two levels and you don't have to walk through a hall that seems like you are staying in a hotel, it seems more like a home to me. There is one in particular that is really neat and has two big balconies with great views of the harbor, but it would need a little work eventually. What it all comes down to is financing, so we're waiting to find out if the ones we like are FHA approved and our realtor is looking for more with the setup we like for us to view. It's fun to go see all the potential places we could live, but we just want to find a place! This morning Adam said he couldn't get into a deep sleep all night because he was having stressful dreams about home hunting :)

Besides looking at condos, we had a pretty low key weekend. Friday night we went out to dinner. Saturday we looked at condos and went to the Art Walk in Little Italy. Then some friends came over and we went downtown late afternoon to listen to this guy Joe Rathburn play his guitar at this restaurant patio by the Padres stadium. Finally, Sunday I got a mani/pedi for our trip and went to the mall and TJ Maxx.

Today we work, and tomorrow early in the morning, we leave for the Florida Keys!

I finally got to see Leighton!

My cousin Court had Leighton in February, but that is one of the downfalls of living here-it's not so easy to stop in and visit the babies every few days. Katie and I were lucky enough that Courtney brought Leighton on a vacation to Arizona, so we both got to see her before she grows/changes too much!

I flew there Thursday night (Adam and Diggs stayed home) and Katie, Court, Tate, Lex, and Leighton came to pick me up. We got home and Court, Katie, and I stayed up and talked and I rocked Leighton and fed her her bottle. She is SOOOOO good and just a perfect little shape to fit into your arm and snuggle forever!

The rest of the trip we pretty much went to the pool, shopped, hung out at Katie's, and had one girls night out while Lexie babysat. I had heard Leighton was good, but I never imagined THIS good. She can go anywhere and just sleeps in her carrier under the umbrella, or looks around while she's in her stroller. I didn't hear her cry once the whole time I was there. Court is one lucky mama :)

She did have one "naughty" moment. Court was changing her diaper and just as she went to do the switcheroo, Leighton went potty all over the changing pad and Court lifted the pad's sides so it didn't get all over Katie's carpet, it started pooling, got all over her fresh outfit, AND her. It was so funny, she was just laying there smiling like she knew she was being mischevious. Katie quick grabbed her up and rinsed her in the sink while Court went to get a new outfit. Just a funny story.

It was such a fun weekend! I'm so happy I got to see the two of them!

Easter 09

Yesterday we celebrated Easter with our friends since none of us live close to family. It was such a fun day! The weather was beautiful, we had a really good brunch, and enjoyed good company!

Adam and I started the day by going to church. Of course we were running late to begin with, then got there and had to park about a mile away. So by the time we got into the church, we were about 15 minutes late. Like all holidays, it was PACKED so we stood in the back by the door, they had no speakers so we couldn't hear a thing, and I was standing with a wall in front of me, so I couldn't see either, haha. Oh well, at least we went and I got to watch all the cute little kids in their Easter dresses go in and out crying!

After that we went to this place for a champagne brunch on the harbor. It was so pretty, the food was good, the champagne was plentiful, the weather was perfect, and we got to sit outside on the water. There were tons of cute kids here too and the Easter Bunny :)

Afterwards, we all took our dogs to the dog beach in Ocean Beach. It was so fun to take Diggy with us. He did NOT like the water, but I don't blame him-it's always FREEZING! Anyways, it was fun to enjoy the weather and look at all the funny dogs. Diggy enjoyed himself behind the shade of my chair most of the time.

Visit from Darah and Evan

Two of my friends from Morton, Darah and Evan, came to visit and we had such a fun time. Darah is a teacher and had a week off for her school's spring break, so they did a Southern California road trip. They started and ended the trip in San Diego, so we got to hang out with them for two weekends.

The first weekend they were here, we took them to all around downtown then to Del Mar for some lunch and fun in the sun, then out in Little Italy. That Sunday, we went to Balboa Park, Coronado for lunch and the beach, then celebrated Adam's birthday with some friends in our backyard.
After they spent the week days in Santa Monica and Newport Beach, they came back here for Friday and Saturday. We met my friend Carissa at a tapas bar for happy hour drinks then went out to dinner downtown, then home to play Scattergories :) Saturday the weather was cloudy (unusual!) so we took a driving tour of everything they hadn't seen yet (ate lunch in PB, drove through Birdrock and La Jolla, up to Solana Beach, and all the way to Carlsbad). It was a nice drive. We ended out night at Island Prime, cause they had to get up super early to leave.

Thanks for coming Darah and Evan! We had such a fun time!

Random thing I learned today

I found out today, after two years of him being on the team, that Michael Jordan's son plays basketball for U of I. Hmmm, guess I've missed a game or two (or all of them) since I graduated. Just shows that I'm not that into sports.

The funny thing is I just told my co-worker that (who is as equally out of the sports loop as I am plus has lived here for life so doesn't know anything about Big 10 sports either). She goes, "Cool, where'd you hear that?"

We had a pretty good laugh when I told her my source:

Shows how I spend way too much of my free time.

Adam's Getting Old :)

Adam turned 28 yesterday. To celebrate, we had some people over Sunday for a BBQ (my friends Darah and Evan were here, so Darah took picts of their visit and the BBQ, I'll post those later when Darah gets home). It was a good time.

For his actual birthday, we went on a dinner cruise. It was fun/funny. It was mostly old people, but they have a DJ, a 3 course meal, champagne, and they drive you all around the harbor. We had a fun night!

Happy Bday Adam!
