SD Summer

We have had a great past couple of days due to the wonderful weather and all that San Diego has to offer in the summer time!

Thursday night we went to the concerts in the park at Balboa Park. The group was this women Motown group called The Corvelles. It was PACKED with lots of families and kids. We sat on the outskirts, took a picnic dinner, and had fun enjoying a nice summer evening!

Friday I worked half day and then took Diggy to the vet. His itching had not gotten better and I just feel horrible for him. Anyways, the good news is that he doesn't have any infections or problems with his ears, or any diseases causing him to itch. The bad news is that we have to figure out if it's a food allergy or an allergy to pollen. To do this, he is on prescription dog food that is an all soy based formula. He isn't allowed any foods other than this formula and water, so he can't even have treats! Luckily, he loves ice so we have been giving him ice cubes to replace his normal treats. He also has to take benedryl twice a day to try to help if it is a pollen allergy. It might be in my head, but I think his itching has improved a little. I just hope it works so bad!

Saturday we woke up and took a LONG walk to the Ocean Beach Street Fair. Ocean Beach is a little beach community with lots of "hippie" type families, so the street fair consists of lots stands with food, art, bands, etc. We went last year and thought it was fun so went back again. We basically ate lunch and watched people, but it was a good time. After the fair, we went home and Robbie came over to grill out. We grilled lobster tails for the first time and they were really good.

Yesterday we spent the day at Coronado Beach. The temperature was super nice, but it was really breezy. By the time we left, my body was coated in the sand that stuck to sunblock and filthy. After the beach we went home and tried to make grilled pizza. We had some difficulties transfering it from the pan to the hot grill, so the shape and look of it was totally off, but it was really good. We're definitely going to try it again but with a different strategy so it doesn't look so mangled.

It's so hard after a great weekend and being able to be outside at all times to be stuck indoors in my office that has no windows :( At least we don't work Friday so we can celebrate the 4th!

Sad Day

Michael Jackson died today (the same day Farrah Fawcett died); I'm sad. I've always LOVED his music and have lots of fun memories that involve his songs cause they just make you want to get up and have fun (anyone remember being in about 7th grade at the Roley house and watching that Michael Jackson Greatest Videos tape and trying all night to master his moves?). All I have to say is that he has had so much ridicule and sadness in his life, so hopefully now he's in a place where he can be happy and not judged :(

"Spotted Without His Ring..."

In all of trash celebrity magazines I LOVE to read, there's always rumors of couples breaking up. First, they are seen in public arguing, then "sources" close to the couple say there's trouble, then they are seen on the red carpet without their significant other, but what usually confirms if the split really is going to happen is the very important picture of their hands. Are they or aren't they wearing their wedding rings? If they are, you can assume their marriage or engagement is happy and good and if they aren't, usually within the next few days they formally announce their split and proceed to file for divorce if they are already married. Funny how there is a process for this sad that I know it by heart.

Well, it's a GOOD thing Adam and I do not live lives in the media because today the divorce rumors would be flying like mad. No, we didn't have a public fight and we are spotted in public together all the time, BUT take a picture of us and zoom in on Adam's left hand and there is something going on that would totally confirm that our marriage was done in Hollywood standards-he is not sporting a wedding ring.

The truth of the matter is that our marriage is happy and we are still going strong, but Adam's wedding band is a thing of the past. Last night, Adam went surfing until dark, his ring fell off in the ocean, and he never found it. He felt bad, but my thoughts are better his ring than mine, and he totally agreed :) He just better make it clear to the loads of women that will now hit on him daily that he is off the market!

Condo, Itching, Father's Day, etc

I wrote a few weeks ago about how there was a condo that Adam and I liked that we were negotiating about...well, we are now about 99.9% going to be moving into it by the 1st of August (planning on closing on July 17 if all things go as planned). We are really excited and ready to move! Friday we had to wire a security deposit which is almost all the $$ either of us have in our accounts, so we decided (or had :) to have a very low key weekend. Luckily, we were both okay with that because we had just had a busy week in Las Vegas.

The condo we are moving into has a whole different look than our house now. For those of you who haven't visited, our house now is an old updated craftsman style home, really cute with a lot of character. The new condo has a much more modern look, so we decided most of our furniture won't look right in the new place. In order to start organizing and making the move easier, we put a ton of stuff on sale on craigslist and to our surprise, got TONS of responses. We sold a good amount of our stuff this weekend (no kitchen table or butcher block to cut food on, but we'll get by). Our house already is looking empty but we're going to try to sell more stuff next weekend so we have a minimal amount to move (and some $$$ for NEW decorations :).

In other news, with summer here, so are the flees. We give Diggy Frontline (flee treatment) every 3 or so weeks, but sometimes he still will get a bite or two. This past week, he must have gotten a bite because he was itching horribly. We gave him a bath and a new Frontline treatment sooner than usual but he must have had a bite because we noticed him still itching like crazy to the point where we finally noticed it was in one spot. He had licked and itched this one spot so hard that it was bleeding! We went to the petstore and got him some of the ultra allergy food (no corn, wheat, beef, or soy) and some itching cream and a neck thing to block him from biting and licking at his sore. We felt so sorry for him, but he didn't seem to mind wearing the neck thing (we bought the "nice" one that's more comfy than the lampshade thing). We almost think he thought it was a built in pillow. Regardless, pray his allergies, flees, itching, etc. go away. It's so sad!

Sunday we woke up to BEAUTIFUL weather, so we went to the Coronado Beach and lounged out, then went home and had a few Miller Chills and grilled out. Diggy got to spend some time with his Da-Da for Fathers Day! It was SUCH a nice day. Why do the weekends have to end?

Vegas

Adam and I just got back from Las Vegas. We were there for 4 nights because Adam has a work convention there and got to bring me!

We left Saturday afternoon after we dropped Diggy off to stay at Leigh's house and got to Vegas around 6PM. We went to a late dinner at Craftsteak (Tom Collichio from Top Chef's restaurant) and had a GREAT dinner, had drinks and went to bed. I slept late while Adam went to a few classes, then ate lunch, sat at the pool all afternoon, went to a late dinner, had drinks and the cycle continued like that. We had some really nice dinners (we ate at Tao and had two nights of banquet type meals for his convention), went to the Stratosphere and rode some rides (part of his work thing), shopped a bit, gambled a bit, mingled with his coworkers and their wives, and of course ate and drank way too much. I feel like we are both old because we were SOOOO excited to go home, haha. Not that we didn't have fun, it was a great (not to mention, FREE) trip and I loved relaxing by the pool. However, one or two nights tops there is plenty for me! It just isn't the healthiest atmosphere-excessive food, prostitutes and strippers all over, way too much drinking, gambling, smoking allowed indoors, etc.

Bocci Ball outside the pool

The balls said "Ralph" haha

Caesar's Pool

Adam Gambling

I thought this was funny

It felt so good to be home, see Diggs, and go to bed early. Our only plan this weekend is to do nothing :)

Day Dreaming

Adam and I have been looking at condos and have learned a lot about the process. The main thing I have learned is be patient and never get your hopes up; there is a whole lot of waiting around and a whole lot of thinking a places is PERFECT and then finding out there's some catch that makes it unavailable to us or not perfect after all.

We have looked at a ton of places and finally have started finding some that we really like, we have one in particular right now and are waiting to hash out details with the realtor to see if it is even realistic for us to put in an offer.

Even though I've learned that the chances we don't get this one are pretty probably, I can't help but start to day dream about how it would be to live in it and more specifically, how it would look if we lived in it! I know it's probably a waste of time, but I sit and think about it way too much during the day. Adam and I went to some home decor stores just for fun and to look, but all I can think about is the stuff I liked and where it would look perfect in the condo that we probably will never live in :) I even found myself thinking today about where I would put a Christmas tree, and that's when I decided I need to stop.

I know we probably won't live there, and I know that it would be a long time before we could afford to buy any new furnishings for this place if we did live there, but I guess I've always been a planner and it doesn't hurt to dream...

May is history!

Our last week of May was pretty busy. I got to work yesterday and opened my calendar to May and was in semi-disbelief that it's already June!

After Katie's test in Tucson, we stayed for Tate's 4th birthday party. It is so nice going there on Holiday weekends so we don't have to drive so far for such a short amount of time. The party theme was pirates. A bunch of his little friends and their parents came over for a treasure hunt, a pinata, a cookout (Tate's an easy kid to please, Katie asked him what he wanted to serve and he said "Hotdogs and Sunchips :), and of course a pirate cake. It was fun, they had a blast!
After we got back to Cali, it was nice having a short work week due to having that Monday off! Then Friday, Adam's college friend Swiss came to visit. We did the regular stuff, showed him all the hot spots, went out to good restaurants, had some drinks, etc. I think he had a good time, and he was a good guest to have!

Swiss left Sunday afternoon, and that night we had tickets to go see Fleetwood Mac. I was tired from the weekend, but super excited for the concert. It was so fun! We had the best time!

May turned out to be another great month-Florida, Emily and Swiss visiting, Tucson trip. Let's hope June is just as good!
