Enjoying My New Work Space

About 2 months ago, I talked about how we were getting ready for our big move so they can remodel our office. Well, the remodel is complete, and to my surprise, my new cubicle is a huge upgrade. I used to just have a small desk in a shared cubicle with dirty carpet.

Now I have a ton of desk space, my own cubicle about 4 times the size of my old one, 3 seats so I can have visitors (ha), new everything, and I brought my ipod to play some tunes while I work.

It's the little things that make a work day better :) Sort of sad that I get excited that I have my own cubicle, haha. Now I need some decorations! It's so sad looking!

Ellen Show with Panichi!

Oh my gosh! Panichi and I are still in shock at what a great day and great luck we had when we went to the Ellen Show.

First, we go to get seated and were thinking we were lucky when we seemed to be getting into about the fifth row. Then the girl asked us how many in our party, we said two, and she ushered us to the front row!

Then the show started and Ellen danced right by us. Then she announced we had won Ipod Touches and the Michael Jackson "This Is It" DVD.

Then Harry Connick Junior comes on the show, has to kiss audience members for $ for Red Cross, picks a little girl, then Ellen points to us and says "One of those girls would love a kiss." So Harry comes, stretches his arms out to Panichi and I and we did a group hug type thing and he kisses our heads/cheeks on TV.

Then they play a golf game, Ellen is sitting at our feet and you can see either us or our shoes for the whole segment and we all win a pair of Callaway golfclubs worth more than $600!

Our shoes by Ellen, haha

Then Will Arnett came on, Ellen announced we all got to take home a year worth of Nivea products, and the show ended.

Then we were the last ones to get ushered out (since we were in the front row), and I look and Portia de Rossi came out and was talking with Ellen. I yelled "Portia" and she waved to Panichi and me.

Panichi and I were on a high so we drove home fast, met Adam out for a late Mexican dinner, and celebrated our great day!

We weren't allowed to have cameras in the studio, but I took lots of pictures of our TV, haha.

Baby's First Pictures

Here are the first pictures I have of my baby (to clarify, now when I say "my baby" I am not speaking of Diggy :) For those who don't know, which I'm pretty sure anyone that reads this does, I'm 12 weeks pregnant. The baby will be here in August! We are excited!

I'll answer the main questions people ask me: I am very excited, Adam's excited, it was a "planned" pregnancy (although a bit sooner than we were expecting), we are finding out the sex (beginning of March), I don't have names picked out yet but definitely have a mental list (waiting to battle that one out with Adam after we find out the sex), I don't care what it is, the due date is either July 27 or August 14 (they have given me both based on my cycle and the size of the baby, so who really knows), and I think that's it.

LOVE

Oh how I love Diggy. If I have a kid half as cute as he is, I'll be the luckiest mom in the world!

Honestly, can you get more angelic?

Last Minute Visitor

My friend Panichi has decided to come this weekend, at the last minute. We were on the phone and I randomly mentioned to her how I got a call from the Ellen Show reminding me that I had tickets for Monday. I had pretty much forgotten about this, and I even decided awhile ago that I probably wouldn't go. I hadn't taken off from work and anyone who would come with me has to work too! BUT then the lady on the phone informed me that it's Ellen's birthday celebration. If you watch Ellen, they make big deals out of things like holidays and celebrations, so I was worried there will be some sort of really good surprise guest or prize given away, I'd see it on TV, and be so sad that I didn't go.

Well, Panichi sort of felt the same way and we worked it out so that she can come for a quick trip. Adam and I are picking her up in Long Beach on Saturday and then I'm dropping her off at the airport in San Diego on Wednesday on my way to work. I emailed my boss and he right away said that I for sure could take Monday off. She needs to study, I have to work Tuesday, and I get tired at the drop of a bat, so it'll be more low key than her usual visits, but I am more excited than ever.

I went from feeling sorry for myself for not getting to see Scarlett to being really excited to have fun plans for this week! Can't wait...get here safe and sound Panichi!

The Ralph Chefs

This weekend Adam and I spent a lot of time cooking. I don't really know why, but I just got the urge on Saturday to make a bunch of random things. Good thing we were going over to Leigh's house on Sunday to take some of the food to because we ended up making a lot!

Adam got to try out his new smoker (his fish turned out good but did smell up the whole condo), I did some baking and some cooking, and of course we did some eating too.

I had Monday off for MLK day, but unlike usual, I spent most of the day inside. It rained all day and we are supposed to get a record amount of rain this week. I watched the movie Julie and Julia, which was super cute and a good end to my cooking weekend!

Now back to the grind. At least it's a short week and I get/have to leave early on Wednesday to go to the dentist, Thursday for my second job, and Friday I have to go get blood tests done.

On one last sad note, a friend from college, Jenna's dad passed away this past weekend. Keep her and her family in your thoughts or prayers!

A Week Back At It

This past week being back at work DRAGGED by. I honestly think it was the slowest work week I have had in my life, so naturally, I was THRILLED when the weekend finally came!

Friday night we stayed home and watched the movie "The Hangover" which was pretty funny. Saturday night we had Adam's "Hole Through" party for his work. I guess whenever a project is coming to an end and they have dug the whole thing, they throw a huge party. It was at Prado, and EVERYONE that works for them was invited-from janitors to the owner of the company. They pay for your hotel (we didn't need one cause it's close to our house), cabs, etc. to make sure everyone is safe.

It was a very interesting party. There was every type of dress (from a sweatshirt, jeans and ball cap to a tuxedo), every type of person, lots of alcohol, and a band. That makes for an interesting night. People were dancing up a storm and getting pretty crazy. I left just before 11pm, but Adam stayed out with some guys from work (his boss included) until just before 3am. Needless to say, Adam had a hard time on Sunday :)

My only picture of the night, blurry, but it's the band on the stage

What better thing to do when feeling sick than relax on the beach? The weather was warm and beautiful, and we were sitting on our balcony in the sun and decided to go to Coronado to the beach. We spent a little over an hour lying there in the sun, and Adam spent the rest of the day trying to come up with things to eat to cure a hangover.

Now, back at it again. Let's hope the weekend comes fast!

A White Christmas!

Today my wonderful time off for Christmas/New Years Break ends. I was so sad to come back to work. It was so nice to have freedom for two whole weeks. We had a great break, but sadly, all good things come to an end.

Our break started with a drive across the country. It was long and I realized how uncomfortable the seats in my car are, but we were lucky and made it there and back with no car troubles or tickets. Diggy was SOOOO good. He just sat inbetween us or in the back seat, napped, or played with his bones. He's easy to have anywhere.

Once we got to Illinois, we basically spent a few days just hanging out with my sisters' families, my parents, and my aunt Julie's family. I also had a baby shower for my friend Kristen, whose baby is due in March (pictures to come, they're on another camera). Then we were off to Indiana for Adam's family Christmas.

We spent the first day in Indiana with Adam's extended family. It was fun to see all of their kids who we hadn't seen since Christmas last year. We also got to go to his niece Rachel's basketball game. On Christmas Eve, we did the traditional Haubstadt thing to do and went to the townie bars, then had dinner and presents with his family. Santa came like always :)

On Christmas morning, we headed back to Illinois to spend Christmas with my family. They had done our traditional Christmas the night before with the "fancy" dinner, so this night my aunt's family came over and we just had appetizers. After they all left, we opened gifts. I got the kids puppets when we were in Vancouver at this huge toy shop, and surprisingly, they all liked them.
After Christmas, I went to an engagement party for my friends Darah and Evan, which was fun because I got to see lots of friends, then was supposed to go to Iowa for my mom's family Christmas, but for the second year in a row, the snow and bad roads stopped us from going. Unfortunately, we were supposed to go to Chicago the day after and cancelled that too. We didn't want to get into any car problems we didn't need to. So we took off to head West a day early.

On our way back, we did a more "fun" route and headed to Dallas, TX. We ate dinner at my sister and Jason's favorite restaurant from when they lived there, Houstons, which was delicious. The next day we headed to Austin, which was really neat, except it was pouring rain so we didn't get to enjoy it too much. Finally, we headed to Tucson to take a break from driving for a day and a half. We spent New Years Eve with Katie's family and some of their friends, then we headed back to San Diego.

We got back to San Diego with enough time to get settled, unpack/do laundry, and have a full weekend. It was sad for our trip to end, but nice to come back to beautiful weather.

Hope everyone had a great holiday season!
