Crazy busy weekend (but fun!)

Me and Adam at the game, last weekend my part got so burned that I still have peeling flakes on my head, so I went with the covered up head/face look :)

Adam and I just had quite the busy weekend!

First, his friend Derek had been in town for work, so his wife, Katie, came to meet him for the weekend. We met up with them Friday night for sushi at our favorite place, Sushi Deli. Robbie met us too so we decided to start the night college style and do sake bombs (I was the only one who had ever done them, thanks to the great fraternities of U of I, so I had to be the sake bomb teacher :) Anyways, we ventured on to a few other bars and had crazier and later night then Adam and I are used to any more, but it was a good time!

We also have had a heat wave here this past week. The weather has been in the 90's-100's, which I love because there is no humidity with it! What better activity is there to do but go to the beach on a day like that (and when you are feeling a little under the weather from a late night!). All I could manage to do was lay in the sun, but Adam, Derek, and Katie were troopers and drank beer and played volleyball with a bunch of high school boys (and beat them too, which made them all VERY proud :) That night we just went for Italian food in Little Italy and went to bed early!

Sunday, Adam and I had tickets to the Padres game, which is fun when the weather is that nice! We made a whole day's events out of it, being outside and enjoying the weather...we stayed outside until about 7 and grilled some fish in our back yard.

Monday morning I decided to take advantage of working at a job where you have the luxury of way more sick days then you would ever need (and coworkers who use their sick days constantly and are not ashamed), so I called in sick. I was tired, my allergies were bad, and I had lots of laundry/cleaning to do since I didn't get a chance during the weekend, so I took a day to recooperate from our weekend.

We had a great time and it was really fun hanging out with Katie and Derek, but we must be getting old --> we decided that next weekend it sounds like even more fun to do absolutely nothing :)

It's the little things that make life fun...

Most mornings after hitting snooze as many times as we can, Adam and I are rushing to get ready and pretty much running out the door to get to work the times we want to. Today, even though I hit snooze one extra time and I felt more tired than ever, I was ready about 10 minutes early, about the time Adam leaves for work. So instead of Adam rushing off to work, he suggested we go to Starbucks together so we could get a little caffeine boost to start our mornings out right. Now, Adam could have easily left to go to work and I could have taken my extra 10 minutes to go get coffee by myself and I still would have enjoyed my morning. But instead, Adam took 10 minutes of his work time to go on a "morning date" with me. That little amount of time that we usually don't spend together just started my day out to a great start!

So, in conclusion, I suggest everyone take some time that they normally would spend rushing, even if it is only 5-10 minutes, to slow down and do something with someone you love...it might make your day better just like my Starbucks date did for me today!!!

6 months of being a married woman

View of our walk downtown, wasn't it beautiful out?
Us on our 6 month anny!

Sunday was our 6 month anniversary! We never pay attention the little ones like that, but we decided, why not? We celebrated by enjoying some drinks and lunch out in the sun. It was a fun, perfect day. Thanks for the best 6 months ever Adam!!!!

Bayer and Me

Saturday night, my friend Courtney (aka Bayer) was in town. Her boyfriend Brian is from San Diego, so they stopped here before a wedding they had in Vegas. We met them and Brian's high school friend out for some Mexican food in Old Town. It was so fun to see Bayer again. We decided that we've seen eachother more since I live here than when I lived in Illinois!

Sad flashback from the past...

So, Adam and I have been using his camera from work and mine has been out of batteries. Tonight, I was having a visitor and wanted a camera; Adam's was at work, so we went and got batteries for mine. As I got ready to take pictures tonight, I looked to see if I had any saved...what I found made me want to cry...there were pictures from the week after we got Diggy. We had not realized how big he has gotten, but he was TINY in these pictures. They are from Feb 16, my bday, Adam got me a piece of cake and made us bday hats. He grew up so fast, just like moms feel about their babies. We even joke that Diggy thinks that I am his real mom, he follows me and stares at me and loves me like babies do to their mommies. So, shhhhhh, if you ever meet Diggy, don't tell him that I wasn't the one who gave birth to him :) Our b-day party was soooo fun having a "baby" to celebrate with us :)

Diggy's Haircut

So skinny looking, but he smells so much better now and he can see!!!

Before

We have started noticing that Diggy's getting dirtier faster (and smellier) due to his shaggy, messy hair! I love how he looks fluffy so have been putting off taking him to get a hair cut. Well, the last few weeks it has been warmer; Adam and I feel sorry for him when we take him outside because he gets so hot, so I finally got his hair cut. It's way shorter than we planned! Adam barely recognized him when he got home from work, he looks so skinny. He's still an "angey" as I call him in my eyes though and seems to be excited to finally be able to see!

Adam and I just made our first trip back to the midwest for my college friend Jessica "Duvy" Duval's wedding to Andy Robertson (another U of I alum). Duvy and Andy live in Peoria so I spent quite a few nights "third wheeling it" with them on dates when Adam and I lived apart. The wedding was in Herscher, IL and the reception was at the Kankakee Fairgrounds. I was a bridesmaid, along with our friend Megan (aka Panichi) and some of Duvy's other friends/Andy's sister. The weather wasn't the greatest (cold and rainy), but that didn't stop Duvy from looking beautiful, the wedding from being great, and everyone from having an AWESOME time!

Married Life in San Diego...

Well, as you all know, Adam and I got married October 20, 2007. We went on our honeymoon to the Riviera Maya and have lived together in San Diego since. I started my job at UCSD Share the Care in November. We spent our first Thanksgiving here with Adam's friends Leigh and Robbie, had Christmas with just eachother, and had Kristie and Jason visit to celebrate New Years Eve.

Since our wedding we've been busy doing lots of things and having many visitors! We went to Phoenix in November to see Katie and Matt, In January we had Kristie and Jason visit, Adam's dad Steve and his wife Carol, and Krishy P! My parents, aunts and uncles (Julie Jeff Cindy and Dick) visited in February along with Adam's aunt Kathy and Uncle Tim. We visited San Francisco in February with Adam and Robin Pletcher and visited Adam's cousin Tracy. In March we had 5 of my college friends (Andrea, Bayer, Mary, Lawley, and Panichi) and Adam's aunt Monica and his uncle and cousin. We have more visitors scheduled to come still! It's been crazy busy, but we love seeing everyone as much as we can!

We've done lots of other stuff: Cirque de Soleil, work holiday parties, beach, cooking class with Brian from Top Chef, Padres game, and lots of other things to keep us busy and having fun; but the best thing we have done is in February we got a little puppy named Diggy Smalls. He is like my baby and I love him! He's such a good dog!

Well, that's my intro in keeping everyone updated on our lives out here. Hopefully there is much more fun events and visitors to mention! Enjoy!
