My First Earthquake...

Not a big deal, but today I was at a work meeting around lunch time, and the room started rocking like a boat! I got this confused/scared look on my face and my boss goes, "I think it's an earthquake! Molly, is this your first?" It was and it only lasted a minute but it was sort of scary. Now that I'm back to my desk I saw on CNN that an earthquake in LA made national news! There's a first time for everything I guess!

Visit from the Sensmeiers and Adam's Work Party

This past weekend we had Adam's sister Jill, her husband Jay, and their 3 girls, Rachel, Megan, and Allie visiting from Indiana! It was so fun having kids here!

Rachel, Allie, and Megan

The girls and Jill came over Friday and Jay went to see Adam's work. Us girls shopped downtown and hung out at our house until Adam and Jay got home. Allie and Diggy became good friends and we were scared Allie would sneak Diggy in her bag :) It was so cute the way she loved him!

That night we took them to Corvette Diner. It's a 50's type diner with waitresses who wear big wigs and dance to oldies music every now and then. They also do weird stuff like throw Bazooka gum at you and stick straws in your hair. It was really fun and Allie and Megan really liked it (I think Rachel was a little too old, haha, but she was a good sport!). Allie even got a balloon hat made of a monkey on a palm tree with bananas. It took the man about 30 seconds, he was really talented!

The next day we had to leave our visitors for the afternoon to go to Adam's big work party. It was in a park in Ramona and a really fun setup! Everyone was invited, along with their families, so they had fun stuff for kids and adults. They had a big blow-up jumping cage, a magician, a clown, face painting, and chalk for the kids. For the adults they had lots of good catered food, TONS of beer, wine tasting from a local winery, a band, plants to take home, horseshoes, and a drawing for a free cruise! It was really fun; Connor McLucky even came back for the visit. He invited us to go visit him and see Lake Tahoe, and I think we're going to take him up on his offer!

That night we met Jill's family in Old Town for dinner and had the girls come home for a slumber party! It was fun getting to have nieces spend the night; since we live so far away, we never get to do regular aunt and uncle things I remember doing when I was a kid! We basically just watched a movie (Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, pretty cute!) and went to bed. The next morning I made breakfast and we took Diggy on a walk to a coffee shop to get some morning drinks.

Finally, yesterday we spent the whole day at the beach! It started out sunny and nice and even though the clouds rolled in, we still had fun. They built a sand castle and swam; I caught up on my reading! It was nice and relaxing. We ended the night at Golden Spoon, which they were impressed with, like everyone.

Unfortunately, 10 minutes later a wave knocked the castle down :(

Today Adam and I both felt really tired, but it's well worth it when you had a fun weekend! 3 days until I go home for Kristen's wedding, yay!

Kristen's Bachelorette Party

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to host 6 friends from Illinois for Kristen's bachelorette party!!! Adam chose to remove himself from this situation and went home for Brian's 30th birthday party (which he had so much fun at he lost his phone and broke his flip flops, haha).

My sister Kristie got here Thursday morning, so the two of us spent the day shopping and went out to dinner! The others arrived late Thursday night so all we had time to do was drop them off at the hotel.
Friday we woke up and I took them all on a little walk to see the downtown area, then we went to lunch on the harbor and sat around the hotel pool all afternoon in great weather. That night I hosted a Pink themed personal shower at my house, everyone was so fun and wore pink and we ate pink food and drank pink drinks and Kristen opened pink presents! After some drinks, presents and games, we went to the drag show restaurant LIPS. It was so fun and funny and I think everyone had a great time there. Kristen even got to go on stage and dance around with a trannie :)

Saturday we took a hike, ate Mexican food, and went to the beach. Some of the girls (not me of course) were brave enough to get in the freezing water!!!! Next on our schedule was Golden Spoon and these girls were all just as impressed with it as anyone else who has visited! Finally it was time to get ready to go out! We all met at my house for a drink, then we went to Cafe Sevilla for tapas and sangria! We next ventured on to the dueling piano bar, Shouthouse, where Kristen again was invited up onto stage! We ended our night at Jimmy Loves with some dancing and lots of drinks from a bachelor party we met there...

The next morning Kristen wasn't feeling so hot for her flight home, but regardless I think everyone had a great time! I know I did! Now I can't wait for Aug 2 for the big wedding!

Yesterday was exactly 3 years after Adam and my first date. In honor of the occasion, we did some reliving of that magical day. Before we went to work, Adam walked into the bedroom wearing the same shirt he wore on our first date (over his work jeans and neon orange shirt, pretty stylish, haha). It made me laugh. Then we went for Japanese food for dinner because our first date in Champaign was at a Japanese restaurant (Kofusion).

It's weird because it seems like we've been together for way more than 3 years, but in a way I feel like our first date was just yesterday. For those of you who don't know the story of how we met (and so when my grandkids ask me how we met I have the story recorded in case I forget), here it is. For those of you who know it, stop reading cause it's a long story!

July 15, 2005-The Best Day of Adam's Life
I was scheduled to babysit for Adam's sister Robin's kids, who I watched all through college. Robin called me to tell me that her brother would be stopping by while I was babysitting to see the new baby Reese and that I might want to look cute because she wanted to set us up, haha. I had met him before briefly and thought he was cute but I wasn't sure I wanted to go on a "blind date." I thought it would be weird but I figured I could talk to Robin about it when I got there. When I got to their house, though, Adam was already there! Robin left and we babysat together and didn't talk much besides typical stranger conversation, so I definitely thought the whole set up idea wasn't going to happen. Finally Robin got home and wasn't paying me like she usually did right away, haha, I think she was stalling and hoping Adam would suck it up and ask me out, but he didn't! So she told Adam that maybe he should go out with my friends and me tonight and maybe he should take me out to dinner first. I was so embarressed, but Adam agreed. I gave him directions to my apartment and we made plans to go out to dinner then meet my friends out at a bar.

On my way home I called my friends and told them they HAD to meet us out incase it was totally awkward. I got ready and Panichi and Amy helped me pick out my outfit and I was sort of freaking out when he called to say he was there. Amy and Panichi were in Panichi's bedroom window looking out to catch a glimpse of him like two little kids, haha. Anyhow, he was dressed pretty cute and didn't smell bad, so that was a start. At dinner, the conversation flowed pretty well, not awkward at all. The more we talked though, the more I thought he seemed like a good guy. When we met up with my friends, he was so nice to them too and I could tell he liked to have a good time-two of my most important traits for a guy to have. We stayed out late, drank a lot, and I had a great time! I didn't know if anything would really come of it though...

He called me the next day to tell me what a good time he had, then we talked on the phone all that week, then he came back to visit the next weekend, then we saw eachother every weekend until he moved to San Diego, then we did the whole long distance thing, and NOW we have been married for almost 9 months!

All because Robin had the nerve to ask me on a date for her brother :)

Diggy's Surgery and an Impromptu Visit to Newport Beach

Lately Diggy has been doing some "inappropriate things" with some of our pillows :( It makes me so sad because I feel like he's so little and innocent and I hate when I catch him in action! Anyways, more recently the frequency of this has increased, so we decided it was time to get Diggy neutered. I dropped him off at the vet Friday morning and it was so sad because he is so friendly and he was wagging his tail and being so cute to all the workers there and he had no idea what was about to happen to him. I went to pick him up later that afternoon and it was so cute! He was so tired and groggy when they brought him out and seemed so out of it just sitting there looking around. Finally I said in my voice I use to him "Diggy, come see your mommy!" and he looked my way really slowly and then started walking at me with his tail wagging. It made my heart melt! Anyways, he has to wear an Elizabethan collar for 10 days and it looks so funny! We stayed home with him Friday night to snuggle him cause we felt so sorry for him. I think he's sort of sore, but he's been on pain pills since the surgery. All in all, he seems to be feeling better and moving around more so I think this was a good thing. And for those of you who come to visit and wonder, I threw away Diggy's old pillow friends right when we got home from the vet :)

Saturday was a pretty low key day. We went for a walk, went to the beach on the bay side of Coronado Island, and went out to dinner. Also, Robbie and his date came over to hang out before they went to a movie. All in all good day!

Yesterday we were walking back from a coffee shop for breakfast when Adam's friend Swiss called. He was in Newport Beach for "work" (he actually gets to go to a charity event at the Playboy Mansion tomorrow for his job, pretty lucky guy :) We had nothing to do so decided to randomly drive up there for a few hours. The weather was beautiful and Newport Beach is a really really fun area. I would love to go back! We made it up there in time to have a few afternoon drinks and then dinner and had to come back home for Diggy and work!

Hope everyone has a good week!!!

4th of July in Palm Springs

This past weekend we decided to road trip to Palm Springs. Neither of us had been there before so we wanted to go check it out.
We woke up Friday morning and got all of our stuff packed and were out ther door by 9AM. It only takes about 2 1/2 hours to get there so the drive wasn't bad at all. Diggy LOVED looking at the scenery. He was so cute!

We knew it was going to be hot there, but I don't know we knew HOW HOT it would be. The temperature was around 110 degrees at noon and the forecast called for it to still be 94 degrees at 9PM. I think that made Adam a bit nervous (and me super happy :), but all we planned to do was sit around our hotel pool anyways. The setup was awesome. All of the chairs around the pool had these mist spouts over you, so it really didn't feel that bad. Also, there was a poolside bar there to supply some refreshing cocktails if anyone was too thirsty :)

That night we went to explore the town. There were lots of cute little shops (Adam finally got new tennis shoes that he has honestly been saying he needed since we started dating) and lots of places to go to eat and drink.

We started out at a tapas bar for a drink and an appetizer. There was a whole big patio outside that was really neat and it was really crowded and fun. The crowd was so funny though. Us, a few other straight couples, and mainly gay men who wanted to befriend us. Needless to say, we made some "friends", had a really good appetizer, and had some yummy drinks!

We decided to eat at this Mexican restaurant that was really neat and had an hour wait. My theory is that if there is a long wait that is a good sign because if people are willing to wait long enough, there must be something worth waiting for. It was worth waiting for, the patio was huge and awesome with a big stage and a band. By the time we got seated though it was 9PM and by the time we ate the food, we both felt so stuffed that we decided to go home. Neither of us could even finish our Margarita, that's how full we were (I had never seen Adam not finish his drink, haha). We decided that from now on, anytime we actually plan on "going out on the town" for the night (which isn't very often nowadays), Mexican won't be part of the mixture! It's a whole separate activity!

It was good that we didn't stay out too late and didn't drink too much though. We got up at a decent time and walked around, got some coffee, and ate breakfast. The little downtown area is just surrounded by mountains and it's so pretty.

After a few hours at the pool, it was time to pack up and leave. We had a great time! Road trips are my favorite!
