Fall Fun

This past weekend was dedicated to celebrating fall!

We started our fall celebration Saturday morning by driving about an hour away to Julian. Julian is this little old fashioned town that specialized in everything apple. Up there, it's as close to fall as you can get (they actually have trees that aren't palm trees). The drive was really pretty and we admired the "fall foilage." In Julian, Apple Days are going on, but really, it was just like walking around the tiny downtown area on any given day. We shopped around and drank some cider, but unlike the cool fall weather in the midwest, after about an hour I was so hot from the 85 degree temperature that we had to find a place to go inside and get some A/C and food.

The closest thing to fall foilage around here

After we had lunch, we drove about 2 miles from the downtown area and went to a little winery. It was really tiny and cute. We tried some wine and enjoyed the scenery. By the time we got on the road and drove all the way back to San Diego, it was getting dark. I made pumpkin chili (a Morton classic) and we watched Sweeny Todd starring Johnny Depp. It was a pretty appropriate movie for the Halloween season; pretty bloody and gross, which more appealed to Adam, and a musical, which appealed to me!

The cute little winery

Sunday, we had our usual morning (walk with Diggy, breakfast at Brickyard, work out) then we went to get a little sun at the pool. Afterwards, we went to a pumpkin patch in Pacific Beach and picked out some cute little pumpkins.

Sunday night I finished off my fall celebrations by baking pumpkin cupcakes. I decorated them as Jack-O-Lanterns using little chocolate chips. Adam even helped me decorate a few, which he is very embarressed about :) He took them to work yesterday and said all of them were eaten up very quickly besides two that he decorated that turned out pretty shabby :)

I love fall and am excited for more fall activities to come!

Happy First Birthday to Diggy!

I know his party was a week and a half ago, but today is Diggy's real first birthday. He got a fresh new haircut and Front Line treatment for the big day :) To celebrate, he got sausage for breakfast, we are taking him to the dog park after work, he gets hot dogs for dinner, and we'll snuggle him an extra amount-all his favorite things! I'm so happy to be blessed with what Adam and I think is the best dog ever-spunky, funny, soooooo cute, lovable, fun, mischevious (okay, sometimes a bit naughty), the list goes on and on. We love you Diggy!

One year down, forever to go...

Yesterday was Adam and my first anniversary! I absolutely CAN'T believe it had been a year already; but when I think about it, we have done tons of fun stuff for just 12 months.

To celebrate, we decided to take a "mini-vacay" to La Jolla. We pretty much just wanted to relax and get away without having to drive for hours or fly somewhere. We took Diggy to Joe and Leigh's to play with his fellow dog friends Buckley and Capone and went Sunday late afternoon to La Valencia Hotel. It is right by La Jolla Cove and was super super pretty! When we got there they had given us an AWESOME room with a private balcony with lounge chairs and a patio table. We went down to sit in the hot tub and when we got back they had brought us chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne! We got ready and enjoyed the champagne out in the balcony as the sun was setting.

Haha, nice robe

After it started getting too cold on the balcony (I even had to resort to putting on one of Adam's favorite robes as a coat since all I had was a dress), we walked to dinner at this cute Italian restaurant. It was on the second level so we sat on a heated balcony that had a really pretty view. The food was delicious!

Monday we worked out, took a walk, and took a drive up the coast. That night we were pretty worn out, so we wore comfy clothes, got some dinner, watched "The Notebook", and cut the top layer of our wedding cake.

Still pretty good for traveling across the country and being in the freezer for a year

Diggy got a little too (chocolate free of course!)

Ahhhh, self shot

It was a great celebration, but more importantly a GREAT year! I can't imagine having a hubby, dog, home, or life that I love more. Hopefully the years to come bring us as much fun memories as this last one!!!

No pictures to document this past weekend

This past weekend I didn't take my camera with us either nights, so I have no fun pictures to share. We had a fun time though.

Friday night we had plans to meet up with Leigh, Lisa, Robbie, and Kirsten for dinner. Poor Lisa got stuck in L.A. traffic, so plans got moved back about an hour. While we were waiting to go/getting ready Diggy started gagging like he was going to throw up but nothing would come out. He did this for about an hour straight every 5-10 minutes but was acting fine and was still his usual playful self. It still made us super nervous so we started googling all this stuff and it pretty much said he had a respiratory infection or had eaten something he shouldn't. I called my sisters to see if their dogs had ever done this and both of them said they thought he had eaten something, so I sucked it up and left him home alone.

We went for dinner in La Jolla to this really cute place called Whisk and Ladle. It was a fun place and a fun group. It was pretty busy there so by the time we waited, ordered, and ate, we got home pretty late. Diggy was fine when I got home, but we let him sleep with us so I would hear him if he started choking. Early Saturday morning he woke me up and I could tell he needed to go out. I put him outside and waited and when he finally scraped at the door to be let in, I found that not only had food passed through his system, but also a very large rubber chunk of his fetch ball that he apparently had eaten. I felt so bad that he probably had that stuck in his throat and was trying so hard to cough it up, but I'm happy he got it out and felt better!

Saturday night we went to a surprise party for Robbie's girlfriend Kirsten that her mom and friend threw for her. It was at her mom's house in La Jolla and was really nice. Her mom made TONS of yummy Asian food and people just hung out in the backyard. She was really surprised. Afterwards we went to her new condo and to this cute little lounge Leigh had been to before.

Two fun nights in a row! Luckily Adam and I took Monday off too to celebrate our anniversary....

Erwin family get together in Tucson/Diggy's Bday party

This past weekend my mom, Kristie, Jason, Sylvie, and Cal were all going to be visiting Tucson, so Adam and I decided to go see everyone since they were so close. We got an early start and left Friday around noon, so we got there around 6PM, which was so much better than midnight!

Friday we just hung out at Katie's house, grilled some food, chit-chatted, let the kids play, the usual. Here are some picts of the kids!

Diggy's first birthday is coming up October 22, so I wanted to do something fun to celebrate. I thought it would be lots of fun for him and the kids to have a doggy birthday party while we were there! We did all the regular party stuff like:

Wear party hats
Play games: Line up and take turns racing Diggy to fetch the ball

Open gifts-He got 3 shirts and some new balls!

Had lunch-hot dogs

Took picts of the bday boy with his cake

Sang "Happy Birthday"

And ate cake-I made a dog/people friendly cake that actually was pretty good!

After all the party festivities, my mom, sisters, me and Lexie went out for lunch and to the mall to shop. My mom and Lexie babysat that night so my sisters and our husbands went out for Mexican food. Then I watched "13 Going on 30" with my mom and Lexie.

The next morning we left to go home...it was a busy but fun weekend. Diggy had the best birthday party he could have ever dreamed of and LOVED all the attention he got from 5 kids all weekend. He's been exhausted ever since we left!

Where's Buddy?

Because I'm such a good mom (hehe) I go home every day on my lunch break to let Diggy out to go potty, give him a little attention, give him a few treats, and then rush back to work and eat lunch at my desk. Well last week, I came home to a huge scare...I walked in the house and moved the gate (okay, mini trampoline we use as a gate) to the kitchen and didn't see Diggy on his rug taking a nap like usual...very odd, so then I looked in his kennel (which he sometimes goes in on his own) and he wasn't in there either. Our kitchen is not big at all and no doors were open so that he could have escaped. I started silently going into panic mode and wondering if someone stole him, when I heard the thump of his tail wagging against something hard. I followed the sound and this is what I found:

I don't know how he got under there and why he likes it, but for the last week, that's where he is whenever I get home. I knew he liked cozy little small areas, but that looks a little uncomfortable if you ask me :)

I can't believe it's October...

Time flies! It's almost been a year since we've been married and summer is over. Sort of sad but sort of fun. I love fall season! All the festivities make me excited.

This past Friday we walked to Little Italy for a little happy hour fun and it was actually pretty cool out. It got dark by 7 PM so it seemed super late when we got home at 9 something (we're like old grandparents). We knew the next day would involve a lot of festivities though, so it felt good to go to bed early!

Saturday morning, Leigh and Joe had a football/brunch party at their house, which to me screams fall fun. All the regulars were there except Leigh and Joe's friends from San Fran were visiting (Morgan and Molly) so they came with one of Molly's friends who lives in SD AND everyone brought their dogs! It was really fun and they sure did a good job of coordinating food and drinks. It was a feast! Diggy had so much fun playing with the other dogs, especially Kirsten's dog Pica. All the male dogs wouldn't leave poor Pica alone! She's one cute Pug! The brunch party ended up turning into a late afternoon bags game and we didn't get home until about 5PM. By that time, we pretty much had to get ready for dinner and going out.

We ate dinner at Starlight lounge, one of Adam and my fave places to go for drinks. It was a nice dinner except the fact that it was raining and the outdoor tarp over the patio was leaking, haha. By the time we were done with dinner, everyone had had plenty to drink and was tired so we went home!

Sunday I made breakfast at home then Adam and I took a long walk. We ended up taking a long drive too randomly...We had a nice leisurely day to end the weekend!

Now, only 3 days until I leave to go to Tucson to see mi familia! Yay!

Adam's Mountain Climb...

Adam climbed Mount Whitney...here are the picts of him and his co-workers at the top...

2 (or was it 1, Adam) years ago today...

TWO years ago today, Adam and I got engaged...

This morning Adam got up super early to "go to work" and Diggy must have heard him, so he started barking. I couldn't sleep through it, so I decided to get up earlier than usual and get ready for work. Well, Adam actually had gone off to plan an engagement anniversary celebration and his plan was for me to still be sleeping and him to wake me up with a surprise...Anyways, I was already awake when he snuck in very quietly so I didn't hear him and he started walking towards the bedroom when I saw somebody out of the corner of my eyes in our house and my heart skipped about 100 beats I was so scared, I jumped and Adam felt bad for scaring me! So we laughed about how he tried so hard but just like the day he proposed, it just didn't work out for him...I told him it's the thought that counts

He made "mimosas" and had planned on using sparkling grape juice but nothing was open but a gas station that early so he had to get Perrier. Not as good as a real mimosa, but it was the thought that counts again :) Next, he put this ring he made out of paper in the same box my ring came in. He told me to unroll the paper ring cause there was a love note in it, haha. So I unrolled it and started reading and it was a really nice little note all about "one year ago today" blah blah blah. I started laughing and said "that's really nice but we actually have been engaged for TWO years." Haha. For the third time, it was the thought that counted. Poor Adam. He's always trying to do such nice things but he's always a pinch away from them going how he planned.

Anyways, we ended our morning off by going to get Starbucks for work, and that part went pretty smoothly. Thanks for all of the effort Adam! It was a great morning even though you made some flavorless mimosas, scared me to death, and forgot about one measly year:) I don't know one husband who would go through so much trouble but you, so that trumps all of the mishaps!
