Worms, Fairs, Indian, Etc.

Ahhhh, major close up at the beach!
Ocean Beach Street Fair

Diggy Sunday, smiling because he got rid of his worms!!!

I think this past weekend gets the award for Adam and me jamming the most amount of unique stuff in ontop of doing our regular weekend activities. On Friday, I was sad because the weather forecast for the whole weekend said "Cloudy" and the whole week it had been beautiful out. To my surprise, however, both days it was perfecty sunny and warm out!

Friday night we went to restaurant week. This is where all the restaurants have a 3 course tasting menu where you can pick out of 3 choices. It's a good way to taste a variety of foods at a nice restaurant for a decent price. We went to this restaurant called Sally's, which is an asian seafood place. It was good, but nothing too crazy.

Saturday we woke up and went on our usual walk and to Brickyard (our usual) for breakfast. On our walk Adam happened to look at one of Diggy's "bathroom break remains" and saw little white moving things in it, so he went home and looked it up and it turned out that our beautiful little Diggy had tape worms. I guess it's really common (80% of dogs get them at some point) and he had a flea bite a few weeks ago, which causes them. I was sort of freaked out, but all we had to do was crush up this medicine and put it in some food (I found out Diggy likes hummus, haha) and he has been fine ever since.

After our vet work, we went to this thing called the Swap Meet. It is so funny. It's this thing in the parking lot of a convention center and it is a mix of a farmers market, garage sale, and fair all in one. There is everything from nice hand made goods to men setting out their old jeans on the bed of their truck to sell. It was interesting to go to and we walked away with a new mirror (that I love!) and Adam got a golf club identical to the one he just broke.

After that we went to this Ocean Beach Street Fair. We drove around for about 30 minutes trying to find a parking spot and were about to leave when we finally found a spot. This thing was crazy!!!! There was tent after tent of stuff, tons of people, food, contests, bands, etc. It was fun to walk around and eat lunch at!

Finally, we went to this place "Shakespeare Pub" to have a beer in the sun. Adam's friends Leigh and Joe met us and Leigh mentioned Indian food sounded good, so we all decided to try this Indian restaurant a block away. It ended up being probably one of the funniest/strangest experiences I have ever had at a restaurant-a belly dancer with men sticking money in her outfit, a waitress who hated us because she didn't want to do work, Leigh's dessert that looked like rotten cottage cheese, etc. At least the food was good :)

Finally, yesterday we went on a shopping spree. I have been having the urge and Adam needs stuff really bad, so we drove down to Chula Vista to a big nice mall there and then to an outlet mall. We both got some cute stuff but left without some of the main stuff we need, but oh well! Then we went to the Coronado Beach around 4:30-6 to enjoy the late afternoon sun, went home and grilled out, and went to bed!

Wow, I'm exhausted thinking about all we did, but it was a good time! Now, I'm looking forward to our road trip this weekend and excited it is only a 4 day work week!

Employee Recognition Event

Share the Care Staff Minus Druann and Dr. Taras

http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AbM3DRi0cuWJu

This week I had two work parties, both of which were really fun! Wednesday our whole office got to leave work at noon to go to a picnic at a park on the bay. It was windy and and a little chilly, but it was a great day. We got to eat lunch, do a scavenger hunt, and just relax, all while still on the clock! It really was fun to hang out with everyone from work outside of our dull office!

Last night my boss, Dr. Taras, and his partner David had a cocktail party for the Share the Care staff and their spouses. Adam and I went to their house and it was one of the most unique, beautiful houses I have ever seen. It was built in the 1920's and has all of the original tile and details that makes it so "one of a kind." Dr. Taras prepared all of the appetizers himself and it was arranged so beautifully. I didn't have a camera at this event, but just picture it in your mind! Again, it was fun for the people who haven't met Adam yet to finally put a face to a name and to socialize with co-workers without talking about work!

Work really isn't so bad when you throw a few parties into the mix!

Another weekend of fun

Last weekend was fun, unfortunately though, I did not have my camera the WHOLE weekend, so I have no pictures :( Update: Lisa took pictures, which I have included a few of below!

Friday night we went over to Leigh's house for a barbeque and on a cruise on this big boat on the bay. It was really fun! The boat sailed for an hour and you could be uptop outside or down a level inside where the bar and band were. It was something different and really fun! Afterwards, we were going to a bar and there was a limo there. The driver explained that it would be less money for all of us to take a limo ride to the bar then take two cabs, so we rode in style to a bar, too funny!

Saturday was the hottest day I have ever witnessed here (still not as hot as it gets home), but it was in the 90's. Adam and I took a long walk but left Diggy at home. He does this thing when he's hot where he finds shade and plops down and lays there just looking at us and he WON'T budge. He sometimes does that when it's about 70 degrees, so I figured the 90's wouldn't make him happy. Anyways, after our walk, we were HOT so we went to a pool and lounged. That night we went out to Mexican and went to bed early!

Sunday we were on a stroll and suddenly I heard music. Adam was on the phone and didn't notice so I followed the sound and found this one man band playing at this restaurant downtown with a huge patio! It was perfectly sunny and tons of people were there listening before the Padres game. We ended up getting some refreshing drinks and enjoying the sun and music! It was really fun and the guy was really good!

Last night we gave Diggy a bath and I'm pleased to say we have a clean looking, fluffy, good-smelling puppy!

Back to work now! Have a good rest of the week!

8 months of marriage and a new baby (not ours :)

Today, Adam and I have been married for exactly 8 months. We went to Starbucks this morning before work but at that time neither of us remembered that it was the 20th, so while G-Chatting at work, we remembered! We've gone 3/4 of our first year without any big blow-outs, so I think we're good, haha. Anyways, it is beautiful out and Adam wasn't too busy, so he came and we went out to lunch at a little street side bistro by my work. It was a great break in the day! I know it might be tough, but let's see if we can make it at least 3 more months Adam :)

In other news, we have ANOTHER new niece! Eric and Lisa had Carissa Kay Ralph on the 18th! We are so excited to see her! Not only is it good news to them that they have a healthy baby girl, it's good news to me to know that girls seem to run in both of our families! Looks like I might be getting the pack of girls I've always dreamed of someday (JK, I'd be just as happy with little boys, whatever I get, I get, but girls are just so fun to dress!)

Anyways, Congrats Eric and Lisa and thanks for 8 months of marital bliss Adam :)

Visit from Kristen and Kirk

Almost newly weds in front of the Old Town sign
Margs!

Kristen and Kirk at the train station before we rode to Old Town

I have to include one of Diggy with his short hair!

Kristen and her fiance Kirk came to visit this past weekend! Their wedding is less than 7 weeks away...so exciting! Anyways, we had a really fun time!

They got here late Thursday night so we didn't do much that night but have a few drinks and stay up late and talk! Friday, Adam was at work, so us other three walked around, got coffee, went out to lunch on the beach, went to the beach (and realized the weather wasn't so good) so went home to hang out in the backyard! That night we went to Old Town for some Mexican action.

Saturday we took them to our favorite breakfast spot, brickyard, then drove to Coronado Island to ride bikes. When we got there, there was this option of getting a "double bench" which looks like a golf cart with peddals on the bottom. So we chose this option and rode around the island dodging cars, walkers, and other bikers. It was really fun, I want to go do that again soon! Again, the weather wasn't the greatest, so we went to PB (aka 20-30 year olds who act like they are in college ville) and had a mini daytime barcrawl and some appetizers. That night we went to Sushi Deli. It was a fun but exhausting day; way more drinking and eating then any of us are used to anymore, I think!

They had to leave early Sunday when it was still dark out. Of course, when we re-woke up that morning, it was perfectly sunny and about 80. I swear I am cursed with visitors, the weather is never as nice as usual here when I have people visiting and the minute they leave, it goes back to being beautiful. Oh well, I think we all had fun anyways!

Uneventful week

I was told to update my blog, but I haven't for awhile because nothing big has gone on. I guess I'll update about pretty much nothing.

Last week I was a nervous wreck because Diggy was itching and acting really weird. He seemed hot and we're wondering if he had some sort of a fever. He shivered all day, didn't play, and wouldn't eat (he loves to play and eat!). We made a trip to Pet-Co to buy some special itching stuff and soon after he started acting better. It was a huge relief because I was making 3 trips home from work a day to check on him.

Last weekend we didn't to a whole lot. Adam had to work Saturday so Friday night we stayed home and Saturday during the day I worked out, got a mani/pedi, and walked/played with Diggy. That night we went to an AWESOME french restaurant, Bleu Boheme. We had been there before for drinks and loved the decor and the way the food looked, so we went back to eat. It was delicious! The next day we played Scrabble in public! I know, we are complete nerds.

This week has been the same old, same old, except we had a great mail day yesterday courtesy of Robin and Lisa's packages (2 in one day)!!! I am only working 4 days because my BFF Kristen and her fiance Kirk are coming to visit Thursday night-Sunday, yay!!!!!! I'm so excited and have a whole itinerary planned out :)

Hope everybody enjoys the rest of their week and weekend!

Dinner with Connor McLucky

Adam has grown to be good friends with this old Irish-Canadian man at work, Connor McLucky. We aren't exactly sure how old Connor is, but we're guessing mid to late 70's.

I had always heard about him from Adam and how he's this short little man with all these crazy stories. Adam didn't really know much about his family life but that his wife died years ago and that his two daughters live far away. He and Adam started being lunch buddies and go out to lunch together most days :)

Last winter, Connor asked Adam if we would like to go out to dinner with him on a Saturday. We had nothing going so we went to meet him at his favorite restaurant, Anthony's Fish Grotto (at about 5:30, haha). He was the cutest, nicest old man and it just made me sad for some reason. He calls Adam "son" and says things like "Eat another piece of bread, son, I know you have a good appetite." I asked him if he did anything for Christmas and he said, "No, not too much." I left with a really sad feeling.

A few months later we went on another date with Connor. This time he asked us if we would like to go to Cirque du Soleil. He LOVES the Cirque du Soleil; he had already seen this same show a few days before with some other friends and he gave Adam 2 DVD's of it to watch, haha. Connor drove us in his Mercedes, haha, and we listened to Willie Nelson on the way. Then he took us out to dinner at his favorite place, Anthony's Fish Grotto. I left sad again because he doesn't talk much, I think he just likes company around. I just feel like he's so lonely!

Anyways, Adam told me about a month ago that Connor finally decided to retire and that he's moving to be closer to his daughter (thank God!). I told Adam we should have him over for dinner before he leaves, so Adam suggested this to him and he said that we should just go to dinner at Anthony's instead, haha. He really likes this place. While we were at dinner he told us some stories, he was a miner and has been everywhere in the world, honestly! He even lived amongst a tribe in New Guinea once. He also told us about how he didn't see his family for 26 years and to make sure to "Keep in touch. That's important." He seemed sad about it. Right before we were going to leave he said really quietly, almost to himself while he was looking out the window, "Yep, I've done a lot of good things." It made me want to cry. I gave Connor a hug goodbye and wanted to cry again.

I told Adam, SOMEONE needs to write a book or movie or something about Connor's life. I wish I had a picture of him so you could see him, he's just this cute, plump, little jolly man with a thick Canadian accent. If there is anyone out there who has aspirations to be a famous writer, contact Adam to get Connor's info! He is such a unique, nice, cute old man with lots of good stories to tell!

The weekend I have been waiting for!

I had been waiting for the weekend of May 30 for months, due to the fact that the Sex and the City movie was coming out. After I watched the Oprah that the cast of the movie was on, it made me even more excited! I decided to wait to go til Saturday because while I was walking to go work out Friday afternoon after work, I happened to go by the theater and the lines were horrible!

Friday Adam and I decided to try a new restaurant that we've walked by a lot called the Neighborhood. It is a gourmet burger/beer type restaurant, but it's more cute and bistro-like than a pub or grill. It was really fun and had really good interesting food. After our success at this restaurant, we decided to go to try a new wine bar that we've only seen during the day while walking by. It looks really cute and it was closeby so we figured we'd stop in for a drink. It ended up being the weirdest place we have ever been in San Diego! There were 5 people there besides us, 2 were working, 1 was a friend of the owners, and the other two were just weird old people. When we walked in there was no escaping talking with all of these people; it was like they attacked us because they were so excited to have new people to talk to. I can't even describe what was so weird about these people but we decided there was something shady going on there, possibly some drug dealing or swinging??? We didn't know, but what we do know is that we will be going back to the Neighborhood but we will never go back to the wine place!!!!

Saturday was the big day of the movie!!!! I had read some negative reviews so I didn't know if it would be that good, but if you ask me it was 5+ stars. I don't know how you couldn't have liked it, really! And according to the lines at the movie theaters, how few seats were empty inside, and the box office numbers, it did pretty well! I even read that since it did so well they are already discussing a sequel! Yay!

Yesterday was a beautiful day outside so we spent most of it outside. Diggy had so much fun! We took him on two walks and we grilled out with Robbie in our backyard last night. As a result, Diggy is so dirty and he smells but he still LOOKS cute! As we were on one of our walks this weekend Adam called him "Buddy" which is one of his MANY nicknames and ever since I have been singing and can't get this song out of my head from the late 1980's commercial:

My Buddy, My Buddy
Wherever I go, he goes
My Buddy, My Buddy
My Buddy and Me!

Remember it? I always wanted a Kid Sister, but our "Buddy" is way better than any doll :)
