Weekend in LA and San Diego with the Roleys

Katie and her kids decided to escape the AZ heat this weekend, so they headed west to CA. They got here Friday night in time for some dinner, a mini-bday celebration for Katie and Ellie (Katie's bday was the 14th, Ellie's is the 21st) consisting of dessert and their presents, then we basically just talked and went to bed.

Katie and her kids had never been to LA, so we thought it would be fun to drive up there for the day and be tourists. We started at Hollywood Blvd. to see the star walk, the theaters, and shops. Then we ate a quick lunch and jumped on one of the celebrity home tours where we got to see Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers houses for the kids and a lot of more adult celebrities houses for me and Katie :)

Katie wanted to see Rodeo Drive, which we walked down, but Tate was tired of walking and I don't think it excited Ellie or Lexie much to be in a shopping area where you can't afford to buy anything, so we weren't there very long :)

After that, we headed to Ellie's main attraction of the day, the American Girl Store at The Grove. Katie let her pick out a new doll and a few items for it for her birthday. While we were at the mall, we had a celebrity sighting that I wouldn't have been aware of but it excited Ellie and Tate. Lexie spotted one of the main characters from one of their favorite shows I-Carley on the elevator in front of us. I think they said her name on the show is Sam (I don't know who she is :). It was cute to see them checking her out. I thought they would be more outgoing and say something to her but they both got shy. We got home and Ellie had a lot of fun playing with her new doll and all of her old ones. Our condo is now a perfect place to play with dolls because we have all of the baby gear!

Yesterday we spent the day in San Diego at the beach and hung out at our condo for the evening. I left for work before they were up, but it won't be long until I see them again! Katie is making a solo trip when I have the baby, then all of them are coming back when Kristie and Sylvie visit for Labor Day. We can't wait for all of our visitors!
